The BM (Mechanical Bolt Interlock) is used to interlock circuit breakers, valves, earth switches etc. It’s used where hazards need to be indirectly interlocked.

The BM may not be used as an access lock.
The BM(S) (full stainless steel) mechanical lock modules are suitable for use in all Ex hazardous areas. These products are completely inert and do not require power or generate any heat. All materials have been fully tested and confirmed as non sparking on impact.

(EN/ISO 13849-1).
Trapped key interlocking is a tried and tested method of mechanically safeguarding dangerous machines and hazardous processes. Mechanical keys eliminate most of the electrical wiring associated with other types of interlocks making it cost effective to install and maintain.
